Visual Representation of Various Factors in Map and Custom Tables

This came up in our discussion - we would like to be able to have various other factors besides a "node down" update our MAP status indicators. Is this possible?

The other item that relates to that would be Status in Custom Tables:

What would be really nice would be able to tell NPM that when X condition is TRUE/FALSE or of $VALUE then turn $STATUS_ICON $COLOR. I do not seem to be able to find a way to do this. This helps immensely when you build a custom table which turns out to have a lot of items, as a quick glance to see either all green or a few red items is all you need to know if you need to take action or not.
